AMR is dedicated to the promotion and development of mountain running in Alaska and to the improvement and preservation of our trails. Alaska Mountain Runners (AMR) is a non-profit organization, located in Anchorage, Alaska.
Our objective is to:
Stimulate participation in mountain running events and trail maintenance projects
Increase the enjoyment and respect of natural resources and the environment
Educate in the manner of an athletic and healthy lifestyle
One of our most important goals is to enhance and preserve the unique balance of living a healthy and active lifestyle while interacting thoughtfully and competently within the environment. The national and state park trails we use are our most precious resource and we believe that for every participant in local mountain races (nearly 1000 people in all) there is a necessary obligation to “Give back to the Mountain.” It is important to see our sport continue as a tradition for many generations with a positive image and respect towards others who use the mountains. If you would like to volunteer for future trail maintenance projects - please feel free to contact us.
AMR Board of Directors: AMR has at least one opening for its board of directors. Anyone interested should email AMR or talk with board members Brad Precosky, Matias Saari, Ben Marvin, Christie Haupert or Sam Young.
