May 23, Thursday - Kal's Knoya Ridge Run - Anchorage    TO TOP

  • UPHILL ONLY on rolling forest trail and alpine singletrack. Three race lengths as follows:
    • Full Monty: 8.5K and 4,300' vertical climb. Limited to 100 participants. Grand Prix points race unless the organizers shorten the course for safety reasons (in that event, the Original course will substitute for the Grand Prix) 
    • For 2013, the Full Monty is canceled due to excessive snow. The course length will be determined on race day. It will definitely go as high as The Dome and if conditions allow will go to the Original course finish.
    • The Original: 5.6K and 2900' vertical
    • The Happy Trail: 2.5K and 1200' vertical
  • Meet 5:00 pm
  • Directions:  Muldoon to Pioneer, Pioneer to Klutina. Park along Pioneer. Walk through the gate at Klutina and follow trail to registration
  • Race Time: 6:00 pm
  • Race day registration only.
  • Entry Fee: Donation
  • When parking, please be respectful of neighbors.
  • For training on the course, a U.S. Army Recreation Access Permit is required. NO EXCEPTIONS. Go to jber.isportsman.net  for information.

June 1, Saturday - Government Peak Climb - Hatcher Pass    TO TOP

  • Description: UPHILL ONLY mountain race, south face of Government Peak, 2.75 miles, 3500’ elevation gain
  • Slightly modified course for 2013 with switchbacks added on the steepest pitch
  • Race Time: 11 am at Mountain Streams Bed and Breakfast
  • Entry Fee: $25 before May 20. After May 20, $30. On race day, $40.

June 16, Sunday - Robert Spurr Memorial Hill Climb - Bird Ridge    TO TOP

 

  • REGISTRATION CLOSED: race filled to capacity
  • Description: 3 miles, 3,400' vertical, up-hill only
  • Meet 8:30 am - Bird Ridge Trailhead. No bib pickup after 9:30 am
  • Race Time: 10:00 am
  • Entry fee: $30 - NO RACE DAY ENTRY - 250 person limit.  Family discounts available.
  • Parking: Please use new parking lot
  • Participants 17 years old and under will run approximately half the mountain. Youths 14-17 may run the full course.

July 4, Thursday - Mount Marathon Race - Seward     TO TOP

  • Mount Marathon Race is the oldest mountain race in the U.S. and will celebrate
    its 86th running in 2013. It goes UP AND DOWN a steep 3,000-foot mountain
    and is about 3 miles long. The junior division goes halfway.
  • Entry applications for priority runners and lottery entrants are accepted from
    January 1 - March 31st at www.mmr.seward.com
  • Entry fees: $65 adults/$25 junior
  • Race times: Juniors - 9:30 am; Women - 11:15 a.m.; Men - 3 pm

August 3, Saturday - Matanuska Peak Challenge - Palmer    TO TOP

 

  • Description: 14 miles with 9,100' vertical gain and the same amount of elevation loss. OUT-AND-BACK course. Route ascends Lazy Mountain, descends
    backside of Lazy and then climbs Matanuska Peak before returning in reverse.
  • Meet 8:00 am at Lazy Mountain Parking Lot
  • Race Time: 9:00 am

  • Description: UPHILL ONLY 2.2-mile mountain sprint with 2,000-foot elevation gain. Starts on CAT tracks and ascends rest of way on alpine single track.
    Courtesy tram ride down.
  • Meet 10 am – Alyeska Tram
  • Parking is at the Alyeska Prince Hotel
  • Race time: 12 pm.

  • Description: POINT-TO-POINT 7 mile mountain trail run starting in lush forest, ascending 2,000 feet to Gavin Hill ridge, opening up to alpine vistas, traversing rock slides and descending through stunted growth forests.
