May 25, Thursday - Kal's Knoya Ridge Run - Anchorage    TO TOP

  • Description: Three UPHILL ONLY races on rolling forest trail and alpine singletrack. 
    • Full Monty: 8.5K and 4,300' vertical. Limited to 100 participants. Unless race is shortened due to poor conditions, this will be the AMR Grand Prix Overall points race (Top 20) for all participants and the Grand Prix Age Group (Top 5) points race for those under age 40.
    • The Original: 5.6K and 2900' vertical. No limit on number of participants. This will be the Grand Prix Age Group (Top 5) points race for those over age 40 (even those who continue on for the Full Monty)
    • The Happy Trail: 2.5K and 1200' vertical
  • Race Time: 6 p.m.
  • Registration: Race day only

  • Directions: Muldoon to Pioneer and park. Walk through gate at Klutina and follow trail to registration

  • Description: UPHILL ONLY, 3 miles, 3500’ vertical
  • Race Time: 11 a.m., Government Peak Recreation Area
  • Entry: $30 early entry. From May 20-June 1, $40. On race day, $50.

June 18, Sunday - Robert Spurr Memorial Hill Climb (Bird Ridge) - Indian

  • Description: UPHILL ONLY, 3 miles, 3,400' vertical
  • Race Time: 10 a.m., Bird Ridge Trailhead. No bib pickup after 9:30 a.m.
  • 2017 Bird Ridge Entrance List
  • Entry: $35. No race day entry250 person limit.
  • Parking: Use new large lot (called "Bird Creek Access" lot).
  • Juniors: 17 & under course goes halfway. Youths 14-17 are allowed to enter the full- course event.
  • Registration process: Registration begins at 9 a.m. May 1 at register.chronotrack.com/r/28975. An entry lottery will be conducted. Lottery registration ends at 11:59 p.m. May 7; it is free of charge. Those selected in the lottery, as well as automatic qualifiers based on 2016 performance, will have their credit cards automatically charged. All lottery applicants will be notified of their status via email by May 10. 
  • Automatic qualifiers: As long as they enter the lottery registration, the Top 10 men, Top 10 women, Top 3 in each age group, Top 3 junior boys, Top 3 junior girls from 2016, and all past senior and junior champions, automatically qualify for the 2017 race

July 4, Tuesday - Mount Marathon - Seward     TO TOP

  • Description: The oldest mountain race in the U.S. goes UP AND DOWN a steep 3,000-foot mountain and is about 3 miles long. Juniors go halfway.
  • Race times: Juniors – 9 a.m.; Women – 11 a.m.; Men – 2 p.m.
  • Entry: $65 adults/$25 juniors

August 5, Saturday - Matanuska Peak Challenge - Palmer    TO TOP

  • Description: 14-mile OUT-AND-BACK course with 9,100' vertical gain. Route ascends Lazy Mountain, descends backside of Lazy and climbs Matanuska Peak before returning in reverse.
  • Race Time: 9 a.m., Lazy Mountain parking lot
  • Entry: $30; race day sign-up only

August 12, Saturday - Cirque Series - Alyeska Resort - Girdwood    TO TOP

  • Description: 6.8-mile LOOP course with 3,800’ vertical gain and equal descent. Course includes singletrack, CAT roads, some rocky scrambling up Center Ridge and a steep descent of Max's Mountain. 
  • Race time1 p.m., Sitzmark Bar & Grill
  • Entry: $45
  • Awards: If capacity of 300 runners is reached, winners get $500 for Pro Division, $500 in gear for Expert Division and $200 in gear for Sport Division. Prize amounts will be adjusted proportionally if fewer than 300 entrants. Prizes awarded for Top 3 men and women in each division.
